Blue Heron Oil Painting by Mary Hughes 12 x 16

Fresh off the easel; 12" x 16" Oil on Stretched Canvas"

"Taking Flight"

Herons are interesting birds to watch. I like their slow long legged wade in shallow waters. One foot comes up and oh so slowly goes back down as they sneak up on their fish lunch. When they stand with their head close to their chest they look mysterious as if hunched over ready to hide their face behind their cloak (wing). In flight they are graceful and magnificent.

This is really beautiful, love the composition. I'm really enjoying your cardinal paintings, too!
